Meet the horses: Dukes Mountain Masterpiece

Updated: Apr 12, 2020

Our second member of the team is Dukes Mountain Masterpiece, also known as Duke or Maz. He is a 14hh Part Bred Arab who has been with us since July 2019.

Duke is an established endurance pony, produced and qualified by Ella Green, who completed his first FEI 1* (80km) competition at Kings Forest Summer 2019 which he amazingly won! I have enjoyed the winter getting to know him and had high hopes for the 2020 season to crack on with championship qualifications, but that has not been the case so far due to the Covid-19 situation.

When I met Duke, what stood out to me was not only his stunning looks, long legs or efficient stride, but his chilled out 'no big deal' persona. A complete change to what I had expected in my first Arabian horse, he is totally chilled and takes everything in his stride; within the first few months of having him we took him to pleasure rides, dressage competitions (something he had never done before), and to the beach, none of which fazed him at all.

Any of my close friends will tell you that when describing my ideal next pony, I pretty much described Duke; in the 14hh range (I am very small), chilled out personality, already experienced and safe but talented, and then ta da, the horse of my dreams was up for sale. I am so lucky to have him and can't thank everyone in my life enough for making it possible to own such an incredible horse.
